What drives us
No rushing from park to park
No packed schedules. We believe in the Slow Safari — taking time to experience, listen, and marvel. Campfires, silence, a guide whispering: “There… a lion.” That is what we do it for.
About us
Meet our team
LAZY LION SAFARIS is not a travel agency with a brochure full of standard packages. We are a small, passionate team that lives and works in Arusha — at the foot of Kilimanjaro, a stone’s throw from the Serengeti.
Elisante
During your trip, you will meet Elisante, born and raised in Arusha, a passionate nature lover with a big heart for wildlife. He saw how the wildlife in his area was threatened and decided to dedicate himself to protection, while happily sharing his story and love for nature with you.
Bastiaan
Bastiaan was born in Zambia and grew up in Tanzania, with a deep love for Africa and its nature. After his studies and career in the Netherlands, he returned permanently in 2016 to use his experience and passion as the founder and driving force behind LAZY LION SAFARIS.
Raphael
During your safari, you will also meet Raphael, an experienced driver and guide who makes the difference between an ordinary trip and an unforgettable experience. In both Tanzania and Kenya, he knows the roads, the nature, and the hidden spots where he is happy to share his passion for wildlife with you.
Sarah
Sarah Scott is the founder of The Kilimanjaro Project: Kijani Pamoja and a key partner of LAZY LION SAFARIS. Through her commitment to the restoration of biodiversity and ecosystems, she contributes to protecting nature and preserving the unique environment in which our safaris take place.
Jimmy
During your safari, you might also meet Jimmy, an enthusiastic young guide whose dream is to let people discover the beauty of Africa. What started as a childhood dream in 2009 grew into his passion and profession, through which he shares unforgettable safari experiences with you today.
Patrick
During your safari, you will meet Patrick, a natural talent and passionate guide who uses his love for nature to share Tanzania with others. With his knowledge and enthusiasm, he has been ensuring an absolutely unforgettable safari experience for 15 years (5 of which have been with LAZY LION SAFARIS).
Baraka
During your safari, you might meet Baraka, a proud Maasai with a special bond to the nature and culture of Tanzania. Born in Monduli, he loves to share his knowledge and personal story about the life, traditions, and environment in which he grew up.
Paul
With Paul, you bring an experienced and friendly guide who is prepared down to the last detail to give you an unforgettable safari. He knows the most beautiful places Tanzania, but you will often find him in the south of the country, where he shares his passion for nature and wildlife.
How Lazy Lion came into being
Personal, local, and without mass tourisms
